Are you a charity or non-profit making company?
No. But we operate with a social and environmental conscious. We also pledge to dedicate 10% of all our profits from this website to the Esther Benjamins Trust and to partner with the World Land Trust (from end May this year)
Why did you choose Esther Benjamins Trust to give 10% of your profits to?
Our little tote bag is at the heart of our reasons as they are made by women in Nepal who have been rescued from illegal trafficking by the trust.And when I (Karen) first read the story of how the trust began and the great work that they do that was the defining moment for making a decision to send some of our profits their way to help them to continue.
How do you define ethical?
Simply as long as a company does not exploit labour,animals or our environment. We also do not consider gambling or adult content only, to be ethical. Some companies take extra steps and dedicate funds to charities and other trusts and they also make sure they "green up" totally throughout the whole of thier supply chain and their associates. This is a process we are currently going through ourselves. We are now 100% wind powered website (see logo at the top of the page)
Why do you have affiliate links on your site?
Affiliate programs bring in small amounts of cash in the form of commissions from any sales that are made via that affiliate's advert. We often either place them strategically around the site and sometimes create a full page ad particularly for that link. It all adds up over time and helps us to keep going and promoting ethical companies. And after all as our name suggests "Ethical Affiliate"...affiliating,associating with and promoting ethical companies!
